Individualism Can Bring Negative Results.

INDIVIDUALISM CAN BRING NEGATIVE RESULTS I want to share some of my experiences and feelings after coming to the United States and joining Western Michigan University. I am an international student from Pakistan. I really enjoyed my time here while studying and analyzing different cultures and atmospheres. The content of any specific culture may be hard to identify, especially from within. It is not easy to explain any culture of any area or country while living in it. American culture has many unique and multiple characteristics but I will discuss only individualism, which is a main part of American culture. Every person wants to be independent, wants to earn money, to get job as soon as possible without being dependent on others. The majority of American youth and students prefer not to live with their parents during college life. They like to live in hostels or apartments with their friends. Individuality has many powerful benefits and gives others confidence, a way of living and earning, independence and freedom. But everything has negative side, too. I think that individuality and this kind of separation from family can be a source due to which young boys and girls don't want to become a supporter and helper of their parents in old age. They don't remain so much attached with their old parents as much they should. One more thing that is important: when this individuality and independence becomes very strong and cross its normal limits then the bond between families and relatives doesn't remain as strong as needed. So individuality and independence are great and have real beauty but negative impacts are also possible in some conditions.
